University Graduate Center gives teaching and instruction for Master’s and Ph.D. students within specific technological subjects. The students are usually enrolled at the University of Oslo or NTNU, but other students are also welcome to join. UNIK collaborates a great deal with the Kjeller institutes, and when UNIK was founded in 1987, it was because of the fact that the research institutes at Kjeller had special and highly qualified research communities that both universities and the institutes believed students would profit from. Collaboration with the Kjeller institutes is still UNIK’s most important resource, where 60 Ph.D. research fellows and 60 Master's Degree students receive their education. The last few years, UNIK has developed similar collaborations with research communities at relevant industrial companies.
